History With NHL
The Atlantic region has been playing a role with NHL training camps for many years. During the early 1970’s the Montreal Canadians held training camps in Kentville, Nova Scotia. In 1992 O’Leary P.E.I played host to the Philadelphia Flyers. Summerside, P.E.I hosted the Florida Panthers in 1999 and the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2002. In more, recent times, Yarmouth, N.S. welcomed the N.Y. Islanders in 2005 and once again in 2006 and Moncton hosted the Islanders in 2007 and 2008.
