Bluenose League makes waves at 2009 NHL Entry Draft
Halifax, N.S.- Momentum is building around the inaugural season of the Bluenose League, the home of NHL pre-season hockey in Atlantic Canada. Last month, at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft in Montreal, Bluenose League officials held a series of high-level meetings with various NHL franchises interested in the activities of the League. "It's encouraging to see real interest from both Eastern and Western Conference teams who are already looking toward next year's pre-season," said Ralston MacDonnell, Bluenose League President. "We are confident that the scope of our League will grow substantially in 2010, and I look forward to more exciting announcements in the weeks and months ahead." On May 15th, 2009, the Bluenose League announced a three year partnership with the Florida Panthers to host the team's training camp activities in Port Hawkesbury, N.S. The Ottawa Senators will also make their way to Nova Scotia this fall, joining the Panthers for an exhibition game at the Halifax Metro Centre on September 15th. Senators players will take part in media availabilities and various community activities before taking the ice against Florida.
